Wedding photography isn’t always terribly original — flip through the albums of a dozen couples and you’ll usually find many of the same shots and poses (hey, if it ain’t broke).

French photographer Beatrice de Guigne has knowingly captured the essence of the modern wedding album in a shoot with everyone’s favorite toyland couple, Barbie and Ken. Over three days, de Guigne snapped photos as the plasticine pair readied for the big event, swapped vows, and celebrated at a reception.

All the requisite shots are there — you’ll see Barbie’s bridesmaids doing her hair and putting her into her gown, Ken’s groomsmen helping him get dressed, and the vows under an arch of flowers. De Guigne also didn’t forget the rote photos of the reception table and the sepia-toned first dance.

The photographer even provided details on the ceremony: “Barbie & Ken were married at Faraway Castle, in Plasticity. The bride bought her dress from The Fairy Godmother shop and her shoes from the Cinderella Store. The groom wore a suit from The Prince Charming Emporium. The couple met more than 50 years ago (yes I know they look young). Barbie was tired of waiting so she asked Ken to get married.”

Take a look at a few shots, and head over to de Guigne’s blog to see more.
